About the Role

Are you a trade-qualified Mechanic looking for a stable, high-impact role within local government? We are seeking a skilled Motor Mechanic / Mechanical Fitter to join one of our clients Infrastructure Services team.

In this role, you won't just be turning wrenches; you will be a key guardian of Council’s diverse asset portfolio. From heavy diesel plant and trucks to light equipment like mowers and chainsaws, you will ensure our fleet is safe, compliant, and ready to serve the community.

Initial 3 months contract, with a high possibility of going permanent/ongoing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality servicing and repairs on a wide range of Council vehicles and plant according to OEM specifications.

  • Minimize downtime through proactive preventative maintenance and efficient breakdown response.

  • Maintain accurate service records using our corporate digital systems.

  • Provide guidance and on-the-job training to apprentices and work experience students.

  • Operate within strict OH&S guidelines, contributing to Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and hazard reporting.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • A Certificate III or IV in Automotive / Diesel Mechanics (Heavy Stream preferred).

  • Proven experience with both diesel and petrol engines, hydraulics, and basic welding/fabrication.

  • Proficiency in using modern computer diagnostic tools for vehicle and plant maintenance.

  • The ability to plan your workflow a week in advance and work with minimal supervision.

  • A valid Victorian Driver’s License (HR highly regarded).
